1935 Durkopp Six-Day, Mostly original with exceptions noted below.
This bike came to me through an Ebay purchase. The owner, who worked in a New York City bike shop, said the bike was found in a local area warehouse. As noted, the bike is mostly original as found. It was missing pedals and wheels. Wood rims with German pre-war Praezision hubs were built and pre-war Wipperman pedals added along with bar tape and tires. The bike has a unique Durkopp bottom bracket integrated into the BB shell. It was precisely dated through the use of a Durkopp dating chart generously provided by an afficionado who rode such bikes in Six-Day events in Europe following the War. This bike has the serial #1476687.
